Free Knitting Pattern - Old Shale Stitch Lace Scarf

This pretty scarf pattern looks super complicated, but is actually an easy, fun knit. Perfect for in front of the T.V

The scallop pattern at the ends is really quite delightful.

King Cole Shine has glitter throughout the yarn, to give your scarf a magical sparkle.

Materials:

2 X King Cole Shine (Click here to see the range of colours

The above shades are:

Left: Smoothie

Right: Safari

4mm needles – either 1 pair, or a 50cm circular needle if you like to fit your knitting in a small bag.


Cast on 56 stitches.

The pattern is worked over 4 rows.

Row 1 – Right side – Knit

Row 2 – Purl

Row 3 – K1 *(K2tog) X 3, (yo K1) X 6, (K2tog) X3* Repeat from * to second to last stich, K1

Row 4 – Purl

Repeat these 4 rows until your scarf reaches the desired length, and then cast off loosely. Weave in ends and press. 

I cast mine off at the end of the second ball, and it measures 25cm x 160cm.


Abbreviations:

K2tog – Knit 2 stitches together

yo, K1 – Yarn over, Knit 1

K1 – Knit 1

Tension – 10cm X 10cm:

22 stitches
